RE: GM selling Hummer, maybe more

Whatever GM does - they need to consider the moves carefully. It's easy to say that they should eliminate the GMC nameplate since they are duplicates of Chevy. Trouble is - GMC has been the number 2 selling GM brand for a number of years.
The decision may not be that easy when looked at from that view!!!

RE: towing capacity on GMC Sierra 1500 series 5.3L

I tow a 26 ft Trail-Lite that weighs about 5,000 lbs wet with my 2004 GMC ext cab, same engine w/3.73 gearing. My opinion is that with your heavier trailer you will not be happy with it for long-distance towing.
Your crew cab is heavier than my ext cab - and your trailer will be significantly heavier when you pack for the trips.
In short - I think you would be O.K. for trips within 200 or 300 miles from home. Farther than that - I don't think you'll like it - and the truck will show the strain. If you have the 3.42 gearing it will be even worse.
